At Mitsui, the legal services span a variety of issues. At the first level, legal services through in-house counsel are used to try and resolve the issues. Issues requiring further expert advice, second opinion, or confirmation by outside counsel can be resolved by sourcing and hiring specialist outside counsels, negotiating professional fees with them (based on corporate rates accessed by Mitsui India) and helping in expediting matters.

The company’s legal department can, on a day-to-day basis, coordinate between the client and outside expert counsels, CPA, Government Departments, Courts, etc., on behalf of the clients for the quick resolution of matters in the best interests of the client.

The legal department has developed expertise in the areas of buyer’s agreement, seller’s agreement, commission agreement, agency agreement, lease agreement, Power of Attorney, etc., and can, therefore, provide help in drafting/vetting/execution of the same, usually in less time than an outside counsel.
